The first Group Art Exhibition ofIranians in Michigan was held at WestBloomfield Library on April 13, 2003and it was very well received by thepublic. The exhibition was composedof a collection of elegant artworks.Most of the pieces resembled Persianstyle artworks. Some of the oilpaintings represented the high level ofmodern Persian art, while others hadthe elegance of the traditional Iranianart. Near the entrance of the WestBloomfield Library hall, the wood-carving masterpieces of HoseinMosavat attracted everyone’sattention. Artistic pieces of Mr.Mosavats were very beautiful. Next tothat, Sahba Laal’s oil paintings were displayed. Mr. Laal’s precious pieces demonstrated modern painting.Brilliant paintings of Ali Khalili-Panahshowed both old and new school ofPersian miniature painting. Mr. Khalili also presented some of his decorativechina painting pieces pieces. Mr. Bahramidemonstrated his superb Persianminiature paintings, which are verywell known by most Iranians. RaminNikpour’s magnificent works consistedof oil painting and mixed media. Mr.Nikpour’s visualization in creating his paintings is extraordinary. Next tablewas beautified by dazzling Italian styleflowers of Ms. Farzaneh Zamanian.Ms. Zamanian very elegantly decorated frames and glass with narcissus, jasmine and lilly. Exquisite works of Heraj Karapetian decoratedthe exhibition walls. Although Mr. Karapetian’s pieces were in different media but beauty was the common theme. Playing traditional Persian music at the background added artistic atmosphere to the exhibition. Guests were served with hot tea and sweets. SInce the Group Art Exhibition was a major success, we are planning to organize another one for the next year. We encourage all artists to join the group. Through the curtain for the Contemporary Persian Art Exhibition at the West Bloomfield Library is successfully closed, the exhibition effort will continue. Next years “Persian Art Exhibition” will be well publicized to a much larger audience in Michigan inside and outside of Iranian communities.
