Haft Seen, consists of seven items beginning with the Persian letter “Seen” (S), spread out. Persian word for seven is “haft”; therefore spread is called Haft Seen.Haft Seen or the seven items are Seeb (Apple); Samanu (a dish made from freshly grow wheat sprouts); Sabze (freshly grown sprout); Somagh (Sumac); Seer (garlic); Senjed (Sorb); and Serkeh (vinegar).Fresh water, mirror, candles, eggs, and one or more dairy item such as milk, cheese or yogurt, and other items on the table include a bowl with goldfish, for good luck and Shirini (sweets) for a sweet year.
